3 Reasons Why Positive Thinking Is Just Not Enough!

These days all you hear wherever you go is BE POSITIVE. Be positive about your future, be positive about your dream & goals, be positive about your results, be positive this – be positive that, but is being positive enough? Personally, I believe, being positive is a crude and naive statement one can make if you are going through some adversity / hard time or trying to change your life for the better. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a guy who loves being positive and will recommend others the same, but the question is – will being positive solve your problems?

Let me give you a scenario to better explain what I’m trying to get to, Imagine you are walking down a street and it is 10 PM, there is nobody apart from you on the street and there are rumors that people are often looted in this street. What do you think would be a better option, being positive and still continue to walk down that street hoping you would not be attacked or change the route altogether?

Whatever you decide, will determine the outcome. Let me give you 3 top reasons why positive thinking these days is just not enough :

1 – It doesn’t provide you a solution :

Being Positive is just a state where you hope things would work out for the better. Thinking positive will not provide you with the answers. When we have a problem or a challenge, it is always good to understand the situation first. Get to the bottom of the issue, try to understand why we even landed in this position but do not over think about the situation, be realistic. Do not over-analyze and get into depression.

There’s a saying by Anthony Robbins “Destroy the monster when it’s small”, so let’s do that and plan how we can come out of that situation rather than dwelling on it!!

2 – It only works for people who are emotionally stable :

Now you may be thinking what emotionally stable mean, it is a state where one is totally aware of his/her own abilities, has great self-confidence and self-image.

There was a study done by Julie Norem, a famous Psychologist, and an author, she mentioned in her book that only 20 % of people in the world are emotionally stable/positive and rest 80 % are emotionally unstable/negative and Positive thinking works only for the Emotionally Positive. So no wonder why positive thinking doesn’t work for everybody, we ourselves our wrongly conditioned and need to change our perspective about ourselves first and become more self-aware to have positive thinking work for us and not against us.

3 – Positive thinking without a Plan of Action will result in a disappointment :

Dreams without goals remain just dreams. Same way Positive thinking without a Plan of Action will just result in you being stuck in the same miserable situation. To come out of it, you will need to first understand your current situation, analyze it and make a plan of action to change things for the better. Once you have all that in place and when you ACT on your plan is when you would be able to come out of the challenge/situation and stand as the champion of the arena.

It is important for us to think positive when everything around us seems to be falling apart but just being positive will never solve our problems, we need to become aware of ourselves and our surroundings, understand the problem, make a plan of action and act on it consistently and persevere until we find a way out of the situation. That is when we will emerge as leaders and the world would be a happier place to live because when you are happy you radiate happiness.
